1964 Porsche 901 2.0L Cup Race Car For Sale

Description

The Porsche 901 was unveiled to the public at the 1963 Frankfurt motor show and was the company’s successor to the very successful 356. The 901 then quickly became known as the 911 due to Peugeot claiming the three digit name with a zero in the middle. Hence Porsche new car became known as the 911.

There were only 232 of these cars produced in 1964 and these 232 cars are known as the Porsche 901. These early 1964 Porsche 901’s several different features to the later 911’s of which this car still retains many of them. Such as the flat rear slam panel, fuel flap release pull in a different position, four hole horn grills, early interior knee bar, top mounted dash screws etc.

This car chassis 300161 was produced in December 1964 and finished in light ivory with black interior which is how the car is presented today.

More recently the car was restored to FIA appendix K specifications and then raced extensively by two separate well known Porsche aficionados. 300161 competed throughout Europe at the all prestigious events including Peter Auto 60’s Endurance, Spa 6 hours and of course the Goodwood Revival where the car has been invited to compete on three other separate occasions.

The current owner purchased the car in the winter of 2020/21 and entrusted us with a recommission of all the running gear to bring the car up to our latest 2.0 Cup specifications, as well as this we built and new 2.0 cup/FIA spec engine so the owner could instal this and use "matching numbers" engine as a spare.

The car since has been raced in GT Sports Car Cup, MRL Pall Mall races and Peter Auto 2.0L Cup. The car has always been maintained and developed by us with no expense spared. The engine and gearbox were rebuilt for the 2025 race season and have since competed in 5 hours of racing since.

In the cars last outing at Dijon for the 2.0 Cup 300161 proved it’s front running pace by being competitive in every practice and qualifying session and then placing 3rd in the Gent/Elite Class.

The car is race ready and built to the exacting standards and specifications as all of our front running 2.0L Cup cars. This includes the engine recipe which is the same as our 2024 and 2025 championship winning engines. The car also has an FIA HTP dated until 31.12.2030 and is fully sorted throughout.

The car is sold with UK V5, in date HTP's, the spare running "matching numbers" engine, 4 spare wheels and many original parts from the car.

In summary this 300161 is a very rare, beautifully presented car that still possesses much of it's orginality and is ideal for Peter Auto 2.0L Cup, Goodwood events, Tour Auto and Modena Cento Ore
