The Porsche 904 was created in competition with Ferrari, Lotus and Alpha Romeo with a power target of 180bhp, Production of the 904 began in 1963 to be ready for the Sebring 12 Hours race in February 1964. It was a very successful couple of year's racing that followed for the 2-litre 904, coming in surprising second place in the enduring 1965 Monte Carlo Rally.
Unfortunately, it was the development of the multi-cylinder engine, as well as problems with the body parting from the chassis under hard use that saw its demise.
