This year Peter Auto surprised us all with a trip to Eastern Europe and the Hungaroring for the first Historic event held at the circuit. The event certainly didn’t disappoint with a huge turn out from the public, large grids and plenty of action on track.
We were running three pre 66 Porsche 911’s at the event. Our 1964 Porsche 901, and two 1965 Porsche 911’s (no66 and no69).
For cars 64 and 66 practice went as planned with all drivers getting to grips with the challenging circuit. But car 69 had a fuelling issue that reared it’s head after a couple of laps running. After practice we set about and eventually found the issue and had the car fixed and ready for qualifying. Qualifying started and all cars were running well and we had fixed the fuelling issue in car 69. At the chequered flag car 64 was 15th overall and 2nd in class. Cars 66 and 69 qualified right next to each other in 26th and 27th overall and within tenths of each other. At the start of the race Richard in car 66 made an absolutely amazing start taking seven places in the first two corners (see video below). Everyone had a great race and made up lots of places. Olly in car 64 finished 6th overall, 2nd in class and 1st 911. Car 66 came 18th overall and 4th 911 and 69 came 20th overall and 6th 911 over the line.
A great weekend was had by all, with all cars finished in the top 20 overall. Huge thanks to all the drivers and team members for their efforts all weekend.
