The wait for racing and winter break had finally come to an end as the team headed out to Barcelona for the Peter Auto, Espiritu de Montjuic event.
This was our first time to the circuit and it certainly didn’t disappoint. A challenging circuit with plenty of varying corners and a long down hill main straight.
We were running two cars in the 60’s Endurance series, the 1964 Porsche 901 (no64) and a 1965 Porsche 911 (no99). Practice went well with all drivers learning and getting to grips with the circuit. After an afternoon re-prepping the cars we went out for qualifying and put the car 31st (3rd in class) and 33rd (5th in class). This left us with a little bit to do come raceday.
The race started and the 64 car was engaged in a fantastic battle for the class lead from the green light (see video below). This battle went on throughout the race and eventually come the chequered flag Olly and Andrew came out on top, won the class and finished 18th overall. The 99 car also had a fantastic race. Climbing from 33rd to 21st overall and finishing 3rd in class. This was a personal best for Richard and the no99 car which was awesome to see.
Both cars ran superbly all weekend which is a great credit to the hard work put in by everyone over the winter months.
